About Therapy.
My primary focus today is treating adults looking to integrate and move forward from the trauma in their lives. I define trauma as any negative or undesirable part of our lived experience that has not been integrated and continues to be activated in our present day lives. Therapy with me explores who you are authentically and what is currently not working well for you. From present-day challenges, we can trace back older conditioned patterns of beliefs and behaviours that you needed in the past to deal with your circumstances but are no longer needed in the present. Our minds simply do not know this. Our minds are operating out of automatic wired responses, that in most cases, we are unaware of but somehow think we should be in control of. We cannot change anything without first becoming aware of what our truth is. This is why my clients are those open to looking for the truth – whether comfortable or uncomfortable.
As a depth psychologist, my approach is a wholistic integration of mind, body, and spirit. All of these are important feedback influences in understanding our authentic truths. Our minds alone can be tricky because our minds are super great at masking our truths. Our bodies and spirits help us to question the mind’s perspective. We have three different brains – our mind, our heart, and our gut. When using these as a cohesive unit in alignment with each other, we will tap into a knowing that goes beyond the uncertainties of our rationalizations and justifications. Our bodies will let us know when we are out of alignment with our true Self.
Throughout my own personal and professional development, I developed a module-based format for supplementing one-on-one therapy and for offering a more financially feasible option for clients to receive and participate in their own therapy process. I call this portion of therapy "Yoga for the Brain" as it is a means to enhance mental and emotional flexibility to handle life’s challenges. My primary mission is to support you in your therapeutic work, emphasizing responsibility, accountability and empowering you to develop and connect with your sense of self. This process helps clients learn how to embody their life experiences and learn how to develop the necessary skill set for ongoing well-being. This is more than symptom reduction. This is about expanding your sense of self to be able to work through any life challenge that hampers your ability to live life fully.
In one-on-one therapy with me, I would anticipate that most of my clients may access one to all of my Yoga for the Brain modules as needed as these were put together to save clients therapy fees since clients can work on the material on their own instead of using up valuable in-session therapy time. Session time can then focus on the expansion and integration portions of the process.
My treatment approaches include, but are not limited to, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Sandplay, Integrative Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment, Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Somatic Therapies.
My treatment approaches have been influenced by neuropsychology, applied physiology, and quantum physics, along with teachings from visionaries like Brene Brown, Dr. John DeMartini, Lisa Dion, Jayson Gaddis, Michael Singer, Paul Selig, and more. My worldview shapes a therapeutic experience that goes beyond traditional boundaries.
